This is the Firebird Pontiac Didn’t Want to Build!

With the introduction of the Ford Mustang in 1964, the first year Pontiac Firebird (1967) is the car the company didn’t want to build, but rather the one they had to build. They initially wanted something to compete with the Corvette, but in the end, the Firebird likely sold a lot more units than a Corvette-cousin would have.
